This is a call for prayer. From Sept. 28 to Oct. 10 Cain, Keith and a group of people are going into 9 different prisons in FL with a ministry called Prayer for Prisoners. [You might remember that Keith Smith went regularly into one of prisons with Cain in the U.P. of MI. Keith has been living in FL for a few years and God has blessed him with a beautiful wife and they have a passion for evangelism.] They will have evangelistic services in the prisons where they will have music, Cain will give his testimony and a Gospel message, and then have a time of prayer and talking with the prisoners.
These divine appointments remind of a quote from Bonhoeffer, “It is much easier for me to imagine a praying murderer, a praying prostitute, than a vain person praying. Nothing is so at odds with prayer as vanity.” Most of these people in prison are in a place in their lives where they are humble and know that they are wretched sinners. Oh, how I wish the average church member or American “christian” would be so humble and recognize their own wretchedness and repent! Only then would there be revival in America. Not only should we be praying for a revival, but an awakening among the many people who don’t claim any religion or knowledge of Jesus. Did you know there people in this county that have never heard about Jesus and that there are starting to be generations that have not heard about Jesus in America! We need to be praying for revival and an awakening before the soon return of Jesus!
Cain is currently giving four mid-week Bible studies and two church services on Sunday at the Sumter County Jail in Bushnell and Pasco Co. jail in Land O Lakes. The Pasco Co jail alone has 1500 people! That is larger then many of prisons he has been in. The studies are verse by verse, book by book and the Gospel is presented clearly.
Many have been saved and have rededicated their lives to the Lord. In one of the jails a woman who received the Lord gets up every morning at 4:30AM to have a prayer time and time in the Word. Others are starting to study the Bible and pray together. Cain likes to encourage them with the saying, “Each one reach one.” Guards have even seen the big difference in some of the inmates and have commented on how God is really changing them. The Lord is also opening doors to teach Bible studies at a rehabilitation center called Loving Hands and discipleship opportunities at another.
As for family news, our youngest son Jedidiah, almost 3, prayed to receive the Lord on Sept. 4th. He was listening to Cain talk about how we know if we are saved during family devotion time. All on his own, he asked if he could pray and ask Jesus into his heart and life. It was such a blessing seeing the joy and excitement on his little face. It was a good reminder that children are never to young to know Jesus.
The Lord has given me (Cheri) some good days physically, but I am still having problems with my heart. It is still going in and out of rhythm (AFib) causing me to be real tired, weak, forgetful, lightheaded, among other symptoms. I am now on another heart monitor for 30 days. Please pray that the cardiologist would have wisdom for the correct treatment for my heart.
Cain continues to have problems with his back and right leg. He is seeing a neurologist about treatment options. Please keep his health in your prayers also.
We found a house and are hoping to close on it next month. It has many big beautiful old trees and a large yard for all the kids to play in. It is a fixer upper. Please pray for the repairs and that the move will go smoothly.
