A totally new opportunity has now come up. I have been going to a Tuesday morning Bible study on evangelism held by my Pastor down here for about a year now. One of the other attendee's is a Chaplain at a Juvenile Detention Center here in our county. Just recently he asked me to come to an advisory board meeting for the center so I went to it not knowing what to expect. Partway through the meeting I realized that there was really nothing for these kids in regards to mentoring. So I was asked by the advisory board to put together a program for mentoring these troubled kids. Many people are starting to get involved to help develop the program. The mentoring program will give Believer's a chance to have an impact on these kids lives and show them that Jesus cares. The counties Pasco, Pinellas, and Hillsborough counties alone have over 200 kids involved in these detention centers! The plan is to start mentoring them while they are inside the detention center and also when they get out. My wife Cheri is now on the advisory board with me and this is the first time that we have been able to serve together in ministry for years due to her heart problems! She is planning on starting a prayer time with the girls inside along with the mentoring process.
